    Title:
Multiple Instances open at the same time
    Summary:
Concurrent Login Using Web UI and Agent Desktop
    Content:

    Hi Gurus,

Can a user login into the Agent Desktop and Browser UI at the same time time. Has any customer raised questions around this concurrent access ? Is there a way to log a user out of Browser UI when he tries logging in to the agent desktop the same time.

    Please advise

    BR

      Hi Srinath

It can sometimes become confusing when talking about instances (sites) and interfaces.

      Instances A (prod)

      • Interface 1
      • Interface 2
      • Interface 3

      Instance B (tst)

      • Interface 1
      • Interface 2
      • Interface 3

      Instance C (upgr)

      • Interface 1
      • Interface 2
      • Interface 3

If we have a setup as above then yes, it is possible to have multiple instances open. I usually have 4 instances open. Different customers or different test sites. From your question I get that that was not realy what you meant. You probably meant multiple interfaces within the same instance. From what I remember (as it was some years ago that I had access to an instance/site with multiple interfaces) it was not possible when using the same account. You were able to switch between them but unable to have them open at the same time. Usually this is not required (for an agent) as all icidents can be managed from one single interface. Admins do sometimes need to work in multiple interfaces to get things right (CP customizations).

As to answer your question about BUI. Yes, a user can be signed into the interface through BUI and Agent Desktop. So it may be fully possible to use the Agent Desktop and BUI to sign into multiple interfaces within the same instance.

I do not believe there is an out of the box way to do this but the way an agent has/is signed into the system can be found in account_session_history.type soyou may be able to use this in a customization.

I have one instance but three interfaces. I can have them all open at the same time with no issues. I often do this when re-configuring workspaces on all three after a clone.

not sure about others but i can login into the Agent Desktop and Browser UI at the same time, even with same ID and interface.

It is possible to log in to the same instance (one site(prod) with only one interface) of the .NET UI and the BUI at the same time.

It is NOT possible to log in to the .Net UI more than one with the same user id.

It IS possible to login to the .NET UI more than one with different user ids.

      HTH's,
