    Title:
Installation of BI Publisher Standalone 12.2.1.4 seems to fail on all platforms
    Summary:
Bug 28264679 - STANDALONE BI PUBLISHER INSTALLATION FAIL ON 12.2.1.4
    Content:

When installing BI Publisher Standalone 12.2.1.4 on Windows Server 2012 R2 I got the error below.
When searching in support.oracle.com I found bug 28264679 that describes the exact same error on all platforms.
Is there a workaround or planned solution to fix this problem ?

      Hi Jürgen,

      Check this: https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=2360054.1

      Hello Christian,
I'm not quite sure that the broken JDBC statement is the reason for the failure. In the CreateDefaultBIServiceInstance.out I found:

      <<<
Problem invoking WLST - Traceback (innermost last):

There is no hint to a JDBC call.
Also the patch is for release 12.2.1.3 but we have tried to install 12.2.1.4.

      Hi Juergen,

Spotted an internal Note with below workaround:

      A. After the install finishes with the above error navigate to /oracleApps/Middleware/user_projects/domains/bi/config/fmwconfig/biconfig/.

      B. Compressed the metadata folder with tar -zcvf, and move the tar.gz off to a separate directory.

      C. Stop OBIEE and remove the bi folders in /user_projects/domains and /user_projects/applications .

      D. Now drop and recreate the RCU, and then reinstall BI Publisher standalone.

      E. Once the wizard is on the BI Publisher (BIP) step refresh the folders and confirm successful drill down to /oracleApps/Middleware/user_projects/domains/bi/config/fmwconfig/biconfig/.

      F. Copy the metadata.tar.gz there and unzip the file so /metadata/config.xml is present.

      G. Confirm the BI Standalone install will now progress past the normal failure point and into the BI Startup portion of the wizard.

      Thanks,
      Sareesh

Thanks Sareesh - this worked for me - but I have a full OBIEE 12.2.1.3 installation that I copied the metadata/config.xml file from.

Started the BI Publisher configuration and then kept trying to copy in the file until the install had got far enough through for the copy to succeed.

I thought I found a possible solution.  I edited the file %Oracle_Home%\bi\modules\oracle.bi.sysman\syscomp\create_bi_service_instance.cmd.  I took out the last "..". I thought that this directed it to the correct Oracle_Home directory.  I was wrong.  Instead the BI Service couldn't find what it was looking for and failed.  That was only according to the logs.  According to the installer it had a green check and seemed liked it installed correctly.  I'm now more suspect of the BI Publisher database.  It seems when I attempt to drop the RCU I run into an issue with the IAU portion which also happens to be in the error.  It's frustrating the install works on Linux if you fix like Saresh commented above, but not on Windows....yet.

      Thanks,
