By the way, a question to the Forum-Admins:
Is there an posibility to mark an comment as answered/helpfull/correct like in the other Oracle forums.
Not sure if the "rate it" stars is really adequate. Just another thought :-)

    Hi Simon,
    thank you very much.
Well, that's the "hard core" version.
I was wondering, if there is an opportunity via the GUI (console).
Or this could be asked (at least from my view) in the adb's database creation process. (Or maybe it's been asked, and I just missed it...)
However, I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not - just a thought :-)

    Hi Vladislav,

thank you for takin the time.

Well - I have to honest: I have not checked that yet.
If it is as you say (and I have no doubt about that) than your assumption may be true. So I will have to take a closer look at this stuff.
And I must admit my approach to the entire topic (ADB) was obviously a bit too optimistic and that’s why a little chaotic.
I think I have to take more time to read and understand some things.
One thing is for sure - to make it fly within 5 minutes it not my level...
The more I think about it the more I'm graceful about Dimitris blog...
    Thank you, Dimitri!

    Hi Vladislav,

I put the following as a comment in Dimitris Blog http://dgielis.blogspot.com/2019/10/free-oracle-cloud-11-sending-emails.html

    You have to also subscribe one of the regions that are currently valid;
(sadly not all are valid/possible today)
    Also see: https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/iaas/Content/Email/Concepts/overview.htm
And be sure to also use this region for this:
    APEX_INSTANCE_ADMIN.SET_PARAMETER('SMTP_HOST_ADDRESS', 'smtp.us-phoenix-1.oraclecloud.com');
For me this one works and I can send mail now:

    One more thing to consider.
If you don’t take care another step, then the mails remain in the INTERNAL mail queue as long If you don’t take care another step, then the mails remain in the INTERNAL mail queue.

    1. you create a scheduled job to "really" send out by running APEX_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE.

    2. you call APEX_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE; after your call(s) of apex_mail.send;

    Best Regards

    Hello,

    have raises an SR:

Severity 2 Severity 2 SR 3-17877176831 : German “Umlauts” in any Member prevents MDX query result is spooled to file when MaxL batch

There is an response for the following still open:
"...thank you for your status update.
However, I would like to ask you to test this on an instance with an older patch release (ideally the one that match ours - .017).
The reason is, that I have to be sure that the issue is patch related before I go into a patch procedure.
It would help me a lot.
Please let me know, if you can do this. "

On what Patch-Level did you test this?

    Regards
    Andre

    Hello ShajiP
    (and all others too)

    1. What about parsing the query bevor saving it and spit out an error message in case it's not valid? That's what I would find useful and user friendly.
However, I would much more prefer to allow comments since it’s an absolutely normal thing to comment code and/or queries.
The same query (including comments) runs fine in MaxL-client.
And that should function vice versa.
Every MDX running in MaxL should run in SV too.
    2. The same is regarding the issue enabled/disabled Execute Query button.
I suspected already that this could be the reason.
However, this circumstance must be made unmistakable clear for any end users. Users are almost all NOT programmers, but business people. They have less understanding for such hidden logic.

    Some more things:
    1. After the query has run, you clear the query windows. Why?
Why not simply leave it alone – e.g. for repetition, to run it one more ?
    2. After the query has run, you clear the clipboard. Why?
And you clear it regardless of what’s currently in there.
The user could have put other stuff into the clipboard in the meantime e.g. a screenshot. It’s gone then.
Very bad idea and ugly for the user.
    3. Why not provide an opportunity to the user to directly jump to the location where the single query files are stored?
    4. Why not let the user choose and define its own place for storing the queries?
Such one more option in SV surely would not hurt anyone…
You surely have to admit that the current location may be good (simple enough) for the SV developers (you); however, surely it’s not for the end users.

Again I want to be very honestly.
Especial regarding this specific functionality I have the impression, that it has been implemented to just and simple fulfill some given specifications by the programmers/developers; and to excuse these folks - obviously immature specifications (where are these from?).
I cannot see the willing and/or ability to anticipate an end users perspective, to ask what they need and like and to fulfill these needs.
    That's too bad.
And it’s something that should be improved - urgently.

Well enough by now. It’s weekend – finally.

    Best regards

    Andre

    Anyone else?
I cannot imagine I'm the only one having this trouble.
Everybody please check it out and report issues.
Otherwise will will have to bear this halfbaken function even any longer.

    Hi Sébastien,

at first thank you for taking the time to replay to my angry comment.
And thank you for pointing to the location where toe queries are stored.
(I’m  pretty sure there is no hint in this regards in the official documentation at all)

As I already mentioned it’s that messy that it seems to make less sense to try to describe it verbally.
That’s why I recorded two little videos to show what I mean.
You can download it from here:
    https://c.web.de/@321907984848394030/22ACqpy9TK6dWV5rkVsnXg
Please be so kind to take a look at it and try to see/understand my issues.

The impossibility to rename a Query and/or Description is another ugly issue too.

    Thank you and Regards

    Andre

    Hi,

    just a guess...

Please seriously rethink your naming conventions.

It’s sometimes a bad idea to do everything you can do just because you can

    Rename 'ENT_Americas(N)' into 'ENT_AMERICAS_N',

for the "nice" you can set  'ENT_Americas(N)'  as description for the group.

    Maybe it help‘s.

    Hi,

a quit long time ago i had a similar (or maybe the same) problem.

It turns out, that if you are ussing the web-based version of EAS the resulting file is written to the server where EAS runs on and NOT to the client.

I reported this as an SR, but nothing has happend at all. In the end I just gave up...

It is terrible to try to communicate with someone that is not abble and/or willing to understand  the problem...Yes I do mean the support folks.

And the problem is NOT just and only a functional problem, it is also and even more a security problem. Why: The process on the server runs under the permissuion of the admin account (installation account) of the server, what in turn means if you know this you are able to write your file to everywhere on the server; you can even overwrite any existing file...

For me this is very! hard stuff.

...the support folks however obviously do not see it that critical...

    A shame.

    Good luck!

    Andre
