Application Performance Monitoring

Synthetic Monitoring now supports Firefox 61 (and onward releases)

You can now define locations for synthetic monitoring using Firefox 45 as well as Firefox 61+ (release 46 to 60 remain unsupported Firefox versions). If you have defined your locations using an earlier version of Firefox and wish to upgrade to Firefox 61, just update the path of the Firefox executable in the location definition. For more details, see Defining Locations in Using Application Performance Monitoring.

Hybrid Mobile Application Platform Support

OMC Application Performance Monitoring (APM) is proud to announce support for monitoring hybrid mobile applications in this release. Most all enterprises today use hybrid mobile applications as a tool in their suite of applications to extend their IT Services to improve productivity or reach new markets. Unlike native mobile applications – Hybrid applications offer an easier way for enterprises to add mobile support to their portfolio of services. The combination of end user exposure, rapid deployment, and varied client-side environments increase the likelihood of application issues. With our support for Hybrid Mobile applications in OMC users of APM can solve problems impacting hybrid mobile applications and deliver better applications faster by leveraging our deep visibility into user performance, actual device activity, client-side execution time, and transaction visibility from device to backend database call.

Infrastructure Monitoring

New Versions Certified

In this release, the following new versions have been certified:

  • • Docker Containers 18.0.6
  • • Kubernetes 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, 1.10, 1.11
  • • Windows Server 2016 (host monitoring)

Proactive Checks for (Linux) Host Monitoring

When a cloud agent is installed, the host on which it is installed is also automatically discovered. In addition, proactive checks are also run to verify that the pre-requisites required for host monitoring are in place. If any issues are found, a summary of these issues are reported at the end of the agent installation. This enables the user to proactively address these issues to ensure the host can be successfully monitored. This feature is supported for Linux. Proactive checks for other operating system platforms will be supported in subsequent releases.

User-specified Host Display Name

When a host is automatically discovered as part of the agent installation, the name of the host is automatically determined as well.  If users want to override this with their own display name for the host, they can do so by using a new agent installation parameter, AGENT_HOST_DISPLAY_NAME.

In the example below, the host’s display name will be set to ‘MyProdHost’:

 $sh $AGT_DIR/AgentInstall.sh AGENT_BASE_DIRECTORY=$AGT_BASE TENANT_ID=MyTenant1 UPLOAD_ROOT=https://omcexample.xxx.com: 4443 GATEWAY_HOST=gwexample.xxx.com  GATEWAY_PORT=4459 AGENT_REGISTRATION_KEY=SampleAgentKey111 AGENT_HOST_DISPLAY_NAME=MyProdHost
